Drugs can devastate or destroy life. When someone is addicted, Medical support and assistance is needed to enable the individual to go through the acute life-threatening withdrawal.

Detoxification is the first step towards recovery and sober living. If you want to be free from drug addiction such as cigarettes, marijuana, cocaine, and alcohol, etc, Living Vine is your solution. It is one of the best detox centers with a complete cessation and drug free environment that help the individual to overcome addiction, to learn skills and how to abstain from drugs.

With our Detoxification services, people who are addicted to drugs can get their body systems flushed out. Our center is unique and special; a place where anyone with drug addiction can come for healing. Our therapeutic procedures reduce or eliminate toxic substances in the body and we closely monitor and evaluate the clients during treatment. The procedures are safe and derived from evident based best practices.

From experience, this program consists of two kinds of persons; those willing and voluntarily seeking help and those who are addicted and involuntarily brought in for detox by loved ones. Voluntary individuals may stay up to three months while individuals admitted into involuntary detox may stay up to five months.

24/7 Rehabilitation program

Living Vine offers a 24/7 in-patient mental health treatment and or outpatient consultation treatment program.

We provide interventions to optimize functioning and reduce disability in individuals having mental health issues and or drug addiction challenges. If you want to recover from your addiction and or drug addictions and return to normal, Living Vine is a place to come. Our center is open for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you make your exercise, fitness, and of course, health to us is a priority and it is offered through residential assistance that equally enhances the learning of new skills. Our services are run 24/7 by well-trained nurses, clinical psychologists/counsellors, physicians, occupational counsellors with additional medical services for easy referrals. Day Habilitation

Living Vine run day habilitation programs with activities tailored to the needs of the audience. Activities may include craft classes and games, clubs, community outings, pet therapy, and employment training.

Some of the goals for Living Vine Community habilitation Programs (LVCHP):

  1. To improve decision making and safety skills.
  2. To increase independent living skills like volunteering to clean, sell and cook.
  3. To build and maintain healthy friendships and community connections.
  4. To adapt skill development to appropriate behavior to help the individual access their community.
  5. To develop social skills.
  6. To manage money.
  7. To enhance leisure skills.
  8. To encourage community inclusion and integration.

Nursing Care

At Living Vine nurses carry out the following practices:

  1. Assessing client status
  2. Providing and coordinating care based on treatment and nursing care plans.
  3. Providing counselling and leading therapeutic groups.
  4. Giving medications and assessing responses and side effects.
  5. Teaching clients on coping skills and self-care.
  6. Providing health promotion and management strategies through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation

Our nurses are VTIREP trained professionals who provide psychosocial interventions such as strategies in stress management, self-coping skills, relapse prevention, and psychoeducation. They also include psychological therapies, such as group and family counselling sessions, cognitive behavioural strategies or motivational interviewing techniques amongst others. At Living Vine, we care, we are compassionate and we encourage our clients; showing commitment and competence at our Christ-like center treating body, mind and soul.

Counselling/group & Family therapy

At Living Vine counselling is usually comprised of individuals or group of persons/family members who meet face to face with one or two trained group therapists and talk about what is disturbing them. Counselling is dedicated to providing our clients and loved ones with the personal care they deserve for their emotional needs. Common concerns addressed in counselling are:

Adjustment /transition to /from the family, and school, post-traumatic stress disorders, alcohol/other drugs, anger management, anxiety/stress, behavioral/thought and mood changes (depression, schizophrenia), eating concerns/self-esteem/body image or self- doubt, grief and loss, general sadness or low mood, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt, hopelessness, or unworthiness, changes in sleep and eating patterns, lack of concentration, fatigue or difficulties with daily activities.

In our counselling sessions, we highlight the presenting problem, predisposing factors, precipitating factors, perpetuating factors, and protective factors to help client overcome the issues. Our ethical principles underline the strict respect of confidentiality in the profession amongst others such as 'autonomy, nonmaleficence, beneficence, justice, fidelity and veracity.' We also use the In-depth Exploration - Problem Assessment approaches with Commitment to action by first setting the Goal through step 1: Relationship Building, step 2: Problem Assessment, step 3: Goal Setting, step 4: Counselling Intervention, step 5: Evaluation, Termination.

Supported employment

Living Vine gives priority to supported employment by helping persons with significant mental disabilities to enter (VTIREP) Vocational Training Institute in order to gain skills and qualifications. This supported training and employment is only reserved for those persons who have been unable to work because of the severity of their mental disability. Living Vine aims to give the persons who recover from addiction and or mental illnesses the right skills to get the job done in mental health fields. When employees have everything they need to perform, their job satisfaction levels increase dramatically and hence their stability to fit into either of the following employment status;

  • Employee
  • Self-EMployed

All of these benefits help others to feel good, it creates a sense of belonging and gives a sense of purpose and a sense of renewal to boost self-esteem.

Respite care

Living Vine offer temporary relief for families and loved ones with mental disabilities and to the elderly to enable them take the needed break from the demands and expectations of care that are always associated with challenges at home level. We provide short-term relief care to help clients through tasks of daily living such as feeding, dressing, grooming, bathing and toiletry. Some of our duties include cooking meals, running errands and performing light housekeeping duties and it can be arranged for several days or weeks or months within our secured mental health care facility or at our adult day center.

Community Support Services (CSS)

This means that we organize and provide behavioral healthcare for persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses in Cameroon communities through extended family members, friends, neighbours, religious organizations, community programs, cultural and ethnic organizations, or other support groups or organizations. This includes different types of Social Support such as emotional Support, informational Support material, material support, self-esteem support, moral or belonging to church support. We promote healthy support systems which involve family members being accountable to one another, sharing with others who have similar problems, and gaining knowledge about their disorder and its symptoms so we can recognize triggers. In addition, we promote a healthy support system which includes appropriate psychological services and sensitization seminars.

Behavioral Supports

Living Vine provides a variety of behavior support services for children and adults including those with disabilities, to assist them in developing functional behaviors to carryout daily activities. We run both a child care center and an adult center where we offer an array of services to persons needing behavioral, social, or emotional support.

With Behavior Support Services, we focus on teaching children functional skills including English language skills, play, social behaviors, and self-help skills. We deal with challenging behaviors by offering cognitive processing, and communication skills, self-help activities to manage Impulse control and Adaptive skills. Services are evidence based, relying on data and assessment results to develop a Positive Behavior Support Plan which identifies preventive, promotional and curative strategies.
